Polyethylene is invented -- this versatile plastic material rapidly becomes a staple in many industries: airline, automotive, kayaks, medical, rubbish bins, signs, tanks, toys, sporting goods, trash cans and more.
Polyethylene will later become the first plastic in the United States to sell more than a billion pounds a year and the largest volume plastic sold in the world.
A decorating challenge: Polyethylene rejects common decorating methods. Silk screening, painting, stick-on paper labels or chemical transfer labels eventually fail when applied to polyethylene and exposed to outdoor elements.
Fifty years after polyethylene's invention, a brand-new company with an innovative system will revolutionize the way plastics are labeled and decorated.
The company creates the mold-in system which will revolutionize the way rotationally molded polyolefins are decorated. After extensive Research & Development, the Mold In Graphic™permanent IML, mold-in label, is successfully created. Windsurfer America® is the first company to use this exciting new graphic in full production for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. Mold In Graphic Systems® will later produce millions of graphics and in-mold labels for companies throughout the world.
1985-1998 Mold In Graphic Systems® relocates to Sedona, Arizona and later builds a new campus nearby in Clarkdale, Arizona. The company's mission is to supply the polyolefin industry's needs and demands for the best-engineered quality graphics and Enhancement Products for molders.
MIGS™ R&D department creates Surface Enhancer™, the Miracle in a Can. Surface Enhancer™ enhances the appearance and functionality of polyolefin parts. It eliminates ugly pinholes and voids in rotationally molded parts. It also reduces thinning and bridging problems.
Surface Enhancer™ remains one of the company's most popular products.
Available in gel or aerosol.
1997 Mold On Graphics®, a new permanent graphic transfer system applied using a secondary heat source after molding polyolefin products, is invented. This process is suitable for all types of plastic processes including Blow Molding, Thermoforming, Injection Molding, Vacuum Forming, Pressure Forming, Compression Molding, Sheet and Profile Extrusion, Rotational Molding and Structural Foam Molding.
Pro-team®, an industrial vacuum manufacturer, is the first company to use the Mold On Graphic® system for their line of industrial vacuums.
Companies which paint their polyolefin products for a custom look find that the paint will not stick, or will only remain on the part until scraped, weathered or rubbed off. So Mold In Graphic Systems® creates the MIGS™ Color In Systems™, Color On Systems™ and Watercolors. Unlike other paints, the MIGS™ Color In Systems™ fuses into the plastic, creating a permanent custom-designed part that is not affected by weather, solvents, or normal wear and tear. It will not scrape or rub off.
To combat molders' high scrap rates due to poor moldings, R&D creates a cosmetic repair product called Patch' N Go®.
Rotational Molders, Vacuum Formers, Thermo Formers, Compression Molders and Sheet and Profile Extrusion instantly are able to reduce scrap rates and save money by repairing products with Patch ' N Go®.

Mold In Graphic Systems® introduces an enhanced R & D program to boost the entire polyolefin plastics industry. The company designs and constructs a new, state-of-the-art 20,000 square-foot Research & Development facility at the company's Clarkdale, Arizona campus.
2001 Partnering with AgION™ Technologies Inc., we incorporated their antimicrobial technology into our product, MicroFace 1™ with AgION™ antimicrobial. This cutting edge product gives you a cost-effective reason to address antimicrobials in the production of your polyolefin products including medical equipment, spineboards, diaper changing tables or any surface where germs live and flourish.
The Millennium Mold In Graphics™ system took the rotomolding industry by storm. This system offers molders a new option in permanent, clear-film labeling. Coupled with MIGS™ Millennium Adhesive, the new Millennium Mold In Graphic™ gives rotational molders freedom to label and decorate polyolefin products at Regular, High-Temp and Ultra High-Temp mold temperatures.
Mold In Graphic Systems also developed a post-mold permanent, clear-film graphic, Millennium Mold On Graphics®, which when coupled with Millennium Mold On Graphics® Adhesive, are compatible with all polyolefin products.
RMC3™, Rotational Molding Compound, takes the rotational molding industry by storm. The product's motto: "Just because it's roto-molded, doesn't mean it has to be hollow." This incredible compound lets you create solid additions to hollow parts, solve molding problems, and reduce scrap.
2003 Mold In Graphic Systems® celebrates its 20th anniversary of developing permanent Mold In Graphics™ and Mold On Graphics® and the best-engineered Enhancement Technologies for molders of polyolefin products across the globe.
2004 PL-S® Parting Line Sealer™ is an unique polymer compound which extends the life of molds and saves molders money. It keeps damaged molds up and running, keeps the resin in the molds, and eliminates costly repairs.
