Mold In Graphics Branding At PaddleExpo In Germany

The PADDLEexpo, a trade only event, has been held every autumn in Nuremberg, Germany for the past 13 years, and while it certainly has a European bias in terms of the exhibitors, it is very much a global event for paddle sport companies and enthusiasts.  This year was no exception, with 54% of visitors traveling from abroad, from 44 different countries.  From small beginnings as a very much local trade convention, it has grown into a truly a global meetup and networking event for buyers, manufacturers, importers, retailers, media and associations. The trade fair is now recognised as the leading global paddle sports exclusive event, where all the newest products and trends can be found, from kayaks and canoes, stand-up paddle and inflatables, to apparel and accessories.  282 different brands were on display this year, several of them including new Mold In Graphics®.

I have been fortunate enough to attend on behalf of Mold In Graphic Systems® for nearly all of the past 10 years and it has been exciting to witness the evolution of the PADDLEexpo, over this time.  In recent years – two developments have stood out: the advent of Stand Up Paddle boards and the growing presence of Chinese manufacturers – particular in terms of rotomoulded Sit On Top kayaks.  SUPs occupy around 30% of the floor space now.

Meeting up with our old friends and customers, and meeting new faces especially from abroad is enjoyable. Where all previous contact has been via phone or email, the opportunity for a face-to-face meet and greet is always great to enhance the conversation about any new and exciting products and technology in the fast growing paddle sport industry.

Pyranha wins Coolest Gear of the Show, White Water Category at PADDLEexpo.

It was also great to see our good customer, Pyranha Kayaks, win one of the “Coolest Products of the Show Awards” in the white water category, with their Machno kayak, a new creek boat for spring 2017.  The Machno is being described as the 4×4 of kayaks, a boat that will take you just about anywhere.  The Machno would be called by many as a kayak that is sporty, yet forgiving.

The name of the game is of course branding, and Mold In Graphic Systems® is extremely proud to have had a long and deep association with the paddle sport industry.  This year was no exception, and Mold In Graphic® logos on rotomoulded PE kayaks were once again everywhere in evidence.  Ever imagined a kayak without any logos or branding?  Completely undressed and without any identity or personality.  Kayak manufacturers expect their branding to stand out on blogs and social media platforms – and to look the same in ten years, as the day the kayak left the shop floor. This is exactly what the new 5th generation Mold In Graphic has sought out to help accomplish.

What was very obvious to me this year, was how quickly our customers have adopted our new 5th generation Mold In Graphic, the MIG®5.  While radically improved ease of application is the most obvious benefit, what really impressed me was how much brighter, stronger and bolder branding is with the MIG®5.  The Mold In Graphics branding really does jump out now especially the white colours and is overall really striking. This new development really is a win/win for both the rotomoulder’s production and marketing departments.
